The Executive Committee is responsible for the executive management of the Agidens group worldwide. The Executive Committee is composed of six members.
Board of Directors
Ackermans & van Haaren (via Sofinim) is the main shareholder of the company. Agidens’ Board of Directors includes Chairman John-Eric Bertrand, An Herremans, André-Xavier Cooreman, Christian Leysen, Louis Verbeke, Jo Breesch and Hedwig Maes, CEO of Agidens.
John-Eric Bertrand (°1977) is a member of the Executive Board of Ackermans & van Haaren. He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Agidens and also sits on the boards of various other companies. Before joining Ackermans & van Haaren, John-Eric worked as a Senior Consultant at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and as a Senior Auditor at Deloitte. John-Eric graduated from the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) with great distinction in Commercial Engineering and holds a Masters in International Management from the Community of European Management Schools (CEMS). He also has an MBA from INSEAD.
Louis Verbeke (°1947) studied Law and Management in Belgium and Law in the US. After several years with an American firm in NY, Paris and Brussels he jointly founded what would later become Loeff Claeys Verbeke before merging with Allen & Overy. He practised as a corporate and M&A specialist. He developed the Vlerick Business School, where he was chairman for 17 years, and Guberna, which he jointly founded. He was chairman, director and joint founder of a number of public listed and private companies and foundations and non-profits. He has lectured to MBA students in China, Russia, South Africa and the EU. He is now the chairman of the Maes property group and Transmetrics, a ‘big data’ start-up in Bulgaria that he founded with two former students, as well as other managerial roles.
Jo Breesch (°1972) trained as a Civil Chemical Engineer and graduated from KU Leuven in 1995. He worked for the KBC Group in Corporate and Investment Banking. Since 2012, he has been managing director of Think2Act Capital, the investment company he jointly founded. Think2act Capital invests in medium-sized niche B2B companies in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Following his law degree (KU Leuven – 1987), André-Xavier Cooreman studied international law (at the Johns Hopkins University, Bologna Campus – 1988) and tax management (ULB – 1991). He worked for the International Development Law Institute (course assistant, Italy), the Shell Group (legal counsel, The Netherlands), Fortis Bank (Corporate & Investment Banking), McKinsey & C° (consultant) and Bank Degroof (public sector manager).
Christian Leysen (1954) graduated from the University of Brussels as a Commercial Engineer and with a Masters in Law in 1976. His career began at Arthur Andersen & Co., and he went on to work at GB Inno BM where he was responsible for the logistics and organisation of the Maxi division. In 1984 he founded the ICT company Xylos, which now employs 220 staff in offices in Antwerp, Brussels and Herentals. In 1989, he took on the day-to-day running of the Ahlers group, which he developed into an international logistics and maritime service provider with its own offices in Europe, the CIS and Asia (800 employees). In 1994, he returned Ahlers to a family business by buying out Stinnes AG, which had become the majority shareholder in 1970. Christian Leysen is chairman of the AXE Group (Ahlers, Xylos and AXE Investments). He is also the chairman of the International Advisory Board of the Antwerp Management School and is a board member at VRT and Film Fest Gent.
An Herremans (°1982) is Investment Manager at Ackermans & van Haaren. She sits on the boards of various companies including Agidens. An has previously worked at Barco as Strategy Office Manager and Corporate Business Development Manager, and as Senior Consultant at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. She has a Masters in Commercial Engineering (KU Leuven) and a Masters in Financial Management from Vlerick.
Hedwig Maes studied Industrial Electronics at IHAM and Business Economics at UFSIA University in Antwerp . He is a senior Executive with over 30 years of global experience in industrial automation and industrial systems, including 14 years with General Electric as Senior Vice President Enterprise Solutions and 10 years with Rockwell Automation where his last position was Vice President Global Systems & Solutions.
